The area offers a variety of sport & leisure activities with some of the best beaches in Australia for a variety of water-sports, and there’s a host of natural wonders.
You can take a drive through the picturesque hinterland areas to places such as The Channon, visit the alternative lifestyle town of Nimbin and wander through the many interesting shops of Byron Bay, Lennox Head & Ballina.
In the hinterland enjoy the cascading waterfalls and take a beautiful rainforest walk to the base of Minyon Falls. There are many World Heritage listed rainforests with walking tracks for all to enjoy. For the more seasoned hiker, why not take the walk to the peak of Mount Warning and watch the sunrise over the hinterland areas – a truly spectacular view.
For the more adventurous, kite-surfing, parasailing and parachuting are also on offer as well as 4wd tours, beach and ocean fishing.
The quaint towns of Alstonville and Bangalow boast country markets and craft fairs, or visit the many local markets that operate on different weekends in the surrounding area which are very popular for all ages.
Cape Byron Lighthouse is an iconic destination for all travellers and famous for being the most easterly tip of mainland Australia. The area boasts a sub-tropical climate which is tempered by ocean breeze’s, making it relaxing in summer and not too cold during winter. The temperatures range from 19 to 32C in the summer to 11 to 25C in the winter months.
